Bushido

Bushido, the way of the warrior, holds that the samurai's life is a discipline of conduct and mind: loyalty to a lord, courage, honour, frugality, and readiness for death, cultivated through constant training. Its teaching largely took written form in Japan during the Edo period. Unlike strategic thought, which studies how a conflict is won, bushido asks what kind of person the warrior must be.
