Confucianism

Confucianism holds that human excellence develops through education, ritual, ethical conduct, and the careful fulfilment of relationships within family and society. Associated with Confucius in sixth- and fifth-century BCE China, it differs from Legalism by treating moral example and cultivated character—not punishment—as the basis of order. Conduct matters more than force.
